Who we are

  • We are a team of enthusiasts, who are passionate about hosting guests for a wonderful dinner.

Every 2 months we ask our suppliers about vegetables availability. Based on that, we then compose a menu that celebrates local, seasonal & organic produce.

When you come to have dinner with us, you are served our entire menu. Dishes are plated in a shared-dining form, and served in several courses. We invite our guests to take their time with each other and with our food.

Our cuisine is meditarrenan-inspired. You can taste it in the Olive oil, in the spices that flavour the vegetables, grains and legumes, in the fresh herbs we sprinkle on the plate. But, we are not confined to one cuisine, and embrace a diversity of ideas when we enter the kitchen.

Our menus are bridges of memories and dreams. The food we cook sometimes originates from traditional dishes we wish to share, and other times from more contemporary ideas that come to us, based on seasonal-availability.

We are committed to cooking vegetarian food, in a way that respects the vegetables for who they are. For us, they are not substitutes of something else, but creatures full of potential for tastes and textures.

The inspiration for our style of dinner comes from from the traditional dinner in jewish culture, that welcomes the Shabbat. We would love to tell more about it when we meet.

Like our culinary ingredients, our drinks menu is organic as well – from the wines to the Coffee beans. We collaborate with local shops, to bring our guests a unique and well-curated selection of drinks, that compliments our food in the best way possible.

We are proud of our home.
Ran’s Kantine was born in ‘De Helena’ – A former-school building in Oude Centrum, The Hague. Our kitchen is located where the school’s canteen used to be, and hence our name. The kitchen is open and visible from the dining area, and you are welcome to see where your food is being cooked. The dining space is part of the former’s school hall – which we transform into a cosy and warm space.

Our wish is to provide our guests with a caring, personal and delicious experience, at an affordable price.
Our pricing is a result of great work being done by our team, to fulfil one of food’s greatest capacities – bringing people together.

Alongside our dinners we offer catering services – in-house or delivered. contact us for more info.

On the 26th of April, we’ll host a special dinner, featuring handmade couscous, with a warm vegetables soup – a dish very dear to me, since my childhood. We’ll serve plenty of salad for starters, and Semifreddo for dessert. Join us 🙂

As of March 2026, we add to our menu a 0% riesling, sent to us especially from Baron Veltheim – a small winery in the Rheinhessen. it’s balanced, fragrant, and a great choice if you want alcohol-free wine.

we also open it by glass !
